Gracie’s Bakes is a blog devoted to the joy of baking – with some running thrown in for a little balance.
For the purposes of the blog baking will incorporate all things that are baked – sweet or savory. However, I feel that the scales will always fall into the sweet side of life!
Baking has been something that surrounded me in one way or another when I was growing up – whether my mother making a quiche or her trademark pavolva, or my grannies filling the house with the smell of fresh baked bread or christmas cake. I guess that always being on hand to lick the bowl paid off and somewhere in my mid 20′s the baking switch went off and I have been doing my best since.
I have had no formal culinary training and everything I know has been self taught with a lot of trial and error. If you don’t try you will never know right?
I do my best to make recipes that little bit healthier where possible – by using whole wheat flour, or using soya milk or less butter & Sugar. Sometimes though I will use all the butter the recipe calls for. Thats how I roll.
I live north of Dublin City, Ireland, with my partner & two dogs – Charlie and Dave.
To keep me sane I run. I have completed 3 marathons to date and will run number 4 in Dublin in Autumn 2011. It may be my last marathon – it may not. But I will run as long as I can.
